Elegant copperplate engraved map of all of Asia, to include the East Indies. Original outline color distinguishes political boundaries as they were understood, or perhaps, somewhat mis-understood. Numerous early place names, some recognizable but many now changed. Japan is oddly shaped, as is Alaska, which just enters at top right. ‘Turchia' reveals the Ottoman influence, sweeping the east coast of the Black Sea, odd outline to Persia. An attractive and interesting reference from an uncommon Italian Atlas, ‘Geografia Universale'. Bright clean paper with large margins. Published in Milan.
